Our Origin Story
Our story begins, like many of those who have overcome addiction, with a decision to begin the difficult journey to sobriety. We exist today because one man took it day by day, put one foot in front of the other, and got clean.
Mike’s First Steps
Years ago, Mike Jorgensen, founder of Steps Recovery Centers, was pulled aside by a close friend and told that he was going to lose everything if he didn’t stop drinking. It wasn’t the first time he’d heard this, but this time, something clicked.
This singular moment served as a wakeup call for Mike, and for the first time, he saw his alcoholic habits for they were: a path to self-destruction.
At first, Mike was not successful in becoming sober. But after months and years of attending 12-step meetings and through the support of his family and friends, Mike was able to become sober and began a new life.
Through his experiences as an addict and through helping his daughter overcome her own drug habits, Mike saw the value of rehabilitation and what the right kind of support can do for those struggling with addiction. It was then he decided to start Steps Recovery Centers.
Helping Others Towards Recovery
Mike’s story has had a profound effect on many addicts who, like Mike, wish to overcome their addictions and focus on what truly matters to them.
Thousands of addicts have found inspiration from Mike’s story, which lets them know that alcohol and drug addiction is not permanent. Rather, it can be overcome and it is possible to re-enter a life of sobriety.
At Steps Recovery Centers, we see countless individuals come through our doors, wishing for a new start. We do everything we can to help fan the flames of this newfound desire to enable and equip them to make the lifestyle changes necessary to overcome the chronic disease of drug and alcohol addiction.
